Arayah Lyte

Arayah Lyte is a dancer and artist from Chicago, Illinois. She is currently a third-year student at the Juilliard School in the BFA Dance Program. She was a member of the Deeply Rooted Dance Theater Youth Ensemble in Chicago and graduated from the Chicago Academy for the Arts, with the Head of School Award given by her principal. In 2022, Arayah Lyte became a YoungArts Finalist in Modern/Contemporary Dance. She has participated in several summer programs including intensives with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Ensemble. Lyte has also worked with choreographers such as Pam Tanowitz, Hope Boykin, Jonathan Alsberry, Wayne McGregor, Jennifer Archibald, Azure Barton, Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber and has learned repertory work by Paul Taylor, Jose Limon, Crystal Pite and Alvin Ailey. The Little Girl Dances is Lyte's first published piece of literature, and she is pursuing a career in writing alongside her dancing career.
