Jack Hicks

 

Jack Hicks is a second-year undergraduate tenor from Bernardsville, NJ, studying with William Burden. Last summer, he studied at the Academie International D'été De Nice with Lorraine Nubar. Notable performances at Juilliard include Tel jour telle nuit (Francis Poulenc) in Pierre Vallet’s Liederabend, Cory in It’s Only A Game (Christian-Frédéric Bloquert) as part of Juilliard’s Opera Lab, and Sieben frühe Lieder (Alban Berg) in Juilliard Songbook. Jack previously studied voice with Lorraine Nubar at Juilliard Pre-College, as well as piano with Alice Firgau, and studies orchestral conducting with Dr. Oliver Hagen. Also passionate about musical theater, his most recent roles include Archibald Craven (The Secret Garden), Cinderella’s Prince (Into the Woods), and Robert Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone). Jack was a winner of the 2023 Schmidt Undergraduate Competition, 1st prize winner of the 2021 Schmidt California Competition, winner of the 2021 Shirley Rabb Winston Scholarship, and a recipient of the George London Scholarship. He has performed in masterclasses with Denyce Graves, Craig Terry, Brian Zeger, Lorraine Nubar, and Carrie-Ann Matheson. Jack is very excited to attend the Chautauqua Institute this summer, where he will study with Marlena Malas. At Juilliard, Jack is a tutor in the writing center and will begin a teaching fellowship in the Ear Training department next fall.
