Jessica Jo-Tzu Yang

 

Jessica Yang, 21, began playing violin at the age of three and a half. She made her first solo recital debut at the age of 12. She was a violin major at the Juilliard Pre-college under the guidance of Mr. Li Lin and is currently continuing her study in College Division of The Juilliard School. She has previously learned from several teachers and top violinists, such as I-Chen Wang, Chee-Yun Kim, Aaron Rosand, and Christina Khimm. Jessica has participated in several music festivals including Great Mountain Music Festival, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, Summit Music Festival, and Sarasota Music Festival, receiving short-term training with top-rated performers such as Igor Ozim, Joseph Silverstein, Hyo Kang, Ani Kavafian, Pamela Frank, Timothy Lees, Frank Huang, and David Chan. Jessica has won first place in several violin competitions, including Vienna Violin, Cheer Taiwan International Music, and Taiwan Mozart Music. In 2012, she won the first place in Hawaii performance Arts Festival Concerto competition, and performed as a soloist with the HPAF orchestra in Davies Chapel. In 2014, she won the best performance award, in Rongxing International Violin and Cello Concerto Competition, and first place in the Wei Wu Ying Taiwan International Music Competition Junior division. In 2016, Jessica won the second place in Ensemble212 2015-16 Young Artist Competition in New York. Now in The Juilliard School undergraduate program, Jessica is continuing her study by surrounding herself with talented peers, experienced teachers and professors.
