Joie Kuo
Joie Kuo, a cellist from Bridgewater, NJ, is finishing her first year as an undergraduate student in the studios of professors Clara Kim and Natasha Brofsky at the Juilliard School. She previously studied at the Pre-College Division with Professor Kim and served as the principal cellist of the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra for two years. Joie was the recipient of a YoungArts Award and competed in the Fischoff National Chamber Competition, among others. She has spent past summers at the Heifetz International Music Institute and Taipei Music Academy & Festival (TMAF), and will be attending the Sarasota Music Festival and returning to TMAF in 2026.
At Juilliard, Joie tutors at the Writing and Communication Center and assists the Preparatory Division Office. She also enjoys math, which she pursues at Columbia University through the BCJ Exchange. In her free time, Joie likes to read, take walks, and embark on late-night food adventures.
