Wangshu Xiang

 

Originally from Shenzhen, China, cellist Wangshu Xiang was born in 1998 and began playing cello at the age of 8. She came to the United States in 2014 to study at Walnut Hill School for the Arts with cellist Allison Eldredge. Wangshu has also went to summer programs such as Music@Menlo, Bowdoin International Music Festival and Montecito International Music Festival. Currently, Wangshu is pursuing an undergraduate degree at the Juilliard School, under the tutelage of Timothy Eddy. Wangshu received the first place in American Protégé Concerto Competition, and the second place in American Protégé Piano and Strings Competition in 2016, which she was invited to perform at the Weill Hall at the Carnegie Hall. She also has performed in masterclasses for Laurence Lesser, Benjamin Zander, Paul Katz, Nikolas Schmidt, David Ying, Peter Stumpf, Yi-Wei Qin and Daniel Veis. As a chamber musician, she has performed for David Finckel, Wu Han, Clive Greensmith, Samuel Rhodes, and Joseph Lin. As an orchestra cellist, Wangshu has performed in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Jordan Hall in Boston, Harpa Hall in Iceland, Oslo Konserthus, Grieghallen and Stavanger Konserthus in Norway.
