Yilan Zhao

Ms. Zhao was born in Shaoshan Village, southern China in 1995. Being raised in such a provincial and traditional Chinese village, she yearned to discover western culture under the influence of her father, who is an English teacher and amateur violin player. At the age of seven, she got interested in piano. But until the age of ten, her piano lessons were mainly given by vocal teachers, due to the lack of piano teachers in her province. After receiving six years of professional music training at the Pre-College of Wuhan Conservatory, she moved to New York in 2011 and started working with Mr. Choong Mo Kang at the Juilliard Pre-College Division. From the Spring of 2015, she is continuing to pursue the Bachelor of Music Degree with Mr. Hung-Kuan Chen at the Juilliard School.
