Sophia Baete

Mezzo-soprano Sophia Baete, from Louisville, Kentucky, is a Second Year Undergraduate Vocal Arts Student at The Juilliard School, where she studies under Elizabeth Bishop. Ms.Baete has attended several intensive programs including the Chautauqua Vocal Institute, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Curtis Summerfest, the Metropolitan Opera Vocal Intensive, and the Schmidt Vocal Institute. She was recently named a winner of the 2022 Schmidt Vocal Undergraduate Competition and has previously won First Place at Schmidt Vocal Competition, The National Association of Teachers of Singing Vocal Competition - Regional and State Chapters, and The University of Kentucky Opera Theatre Vocal Competition. She has recently performed as Hippolyta in Juilliard Opera’s Production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and as the Dew Fairy in the Chautauqua Vocal Institute's Production of Hänsel und Gretel. Ms.Baete is also delighted to be a recipient of the Jerome L. Greene Fellowship at The Juilliard School.
